The Green Legacy is a tree planting program that started in 2004 to celebrate Wellington County's 150-year anniversary. It has since grown to be the largest municipal tree planting program in North America, with over three million trees planted by community partners.

"The mission of The Green Legacy program is to strengthen the community's view towards the value of trees and the environment, creating a green infrastructure to ensure ongoing environmental benefits and help the County adapt to climate change. "
