The annual Trillium Awards program promotes community pride by recognizing residents who, by landscaping and maintaining their property, contribute to a more attractive neighbourhood and community. Properties in the Town of Petawawa are reviewed and considered for the Trillium Awards. You can nominate your own property or someone else’s property (with the owner’s permission) to be assessed by horticultural enthusiasts to try to achieve either a white or a red trillium. This beautification program is free for all properties owners to enter. Nominations close annually on July 15th.
How to Participate
- All property owners, whether residential, commercial or industrial are welcome to participate–and it’s FREE!
- Residents may nominate their own or another’s properties.
- Submit a nomination using the online form. * Please secure the nominee’s permission to ensure they want the Trillium Sub-Committee to visit and assess their curbside landscape.
- We will attempt to notify the nominee that the Trillium Sub-Committee will be visiting their property within the first week of August to take photos from the curbside in preparation for the evaluation. In order to achieve the best images for evaluation, we recommend that nominees close garage doors and remove cars from the front of or too near the house. These photos may be used on various social media or web platforms.
- Within the following week the sub-committee will assess and score each participating property.
- The winners will be posted on the PHS website and are invited to the Petawawa Horticultural Society’s end-of-summer barbecue and potluck (date and location TBD yearly)
